Pictured above: (l-r) RAQ Chairman Peter Matthews presents COL Steve Evans with a Chairman's Award.
Colonel Commandant Queensland COL Steve Evans was recently presented with a Chairman's Award at the February Monthly Meeting.
His contribution and leadership as Colonel Commandant Queensland have made a positive impact on the reputation of the Association and Corps Members in Queensland.
Along with the organising Committee, Steve's commitment in advancing the North Queensland RAEME Recovery Mechanics Memorial Project, which honoured two fallen soldiers, WO2 Ryan Leslie and CFN Brendon Payne, also strengthened the Association's and Corps connection with the local community.
Additionally, his endorsement and talk at the Women in RAEME Event in Brisbane played a key role in promoting diversity and inclusion, enhancing our reputation as a progressive Association.
Steve also spoke passionately on the Corps history at the Mermaid Beach AEME SLSC Book Launch. By actively participating in this event, he celebrated the Association's history and strengthened its ties with the Surf Club and the broader community.
On behalf of the Association, congratulations Steve. Your dedication to the Association and the success of these projects is commendable.
Thank you Bruce!
For those of you who don't know, Bruce Hermann (pictured right) is our Merchandise Officer. He posts out and manages all the RAEME merchandise we have in Brisbane. This is no small task and forms the most significant revenue stream we have in the Association.
Bruce is Honorary Life Member No.10, and Chairman's Award recipient. His is a proud Vietnam Veteran, who served on operations in SVN with A & B SQN 3 CAV REGT LAD from April 1969 to Apr 1970.
